SLS Brickell

MIAMI - USA

Systems: Premium Plus roller shades

Fabrics: Etamine BO

Architecture: Arquitectonica & Philippe Starck

Just behind the striking Brickell City Center sits the SLS Brickell Hotel & Residence building, with its 55-storey glass tower. This edifice, which combines a hotel with luxury apartments, was opened in 2017 and helmed by the firm Arquitectonica. What’s more, this project featured the creative collaboration of Philippe Starck and José Andrés, who handled the interiors.

Oozing personality, this building stands out for its façade, which has taken the form of a multicolor mural by Markus Linnenbrink, a ground-breaking design that generates a certain South Beach feel, yet in a far more urban setting. As to the tower, it was conceived as a glass prism, with jutting balconies and lemon trees in giant flowerpots that provide the building with a cool and refreshing air.

For this project, Premium Plus shades with double fabric were the chosen system: a decorative fabric and a blackout fabric. A solar protection solution that combines two different fabrics, each with its own function. The decorative fabric selected for this residential project was Etamine. This fabric was combined with a Blackout fabric that was installed with side channels, to provide 100% darkness and guarantee the privacy of every room.
